I can’t even count the times I have been in a group or raid, and someone has left because their husband or wife is having a fit over their gaming habits. It can be quite a nuisance, especially if it breaks up the group when you have spent hours getting to the bottom of that dungeon. There have even been times others have gone link dead, and when they come back later they say their wife turned off their computer. This is extremely annoying, and I can only imagine that if it annoys me, how the gamer must feel.
That’s not to say that the wife or husband, because there are reversed roles in this, doesn’t have a point, but it doesn’t make it any less aggravating. It seems that if a relationship is to the point where your wife unplugs your computer, obviously something has to change quickly or it may soon end. The gamer generally has two options, they can stop gaming…. /gasp, or they can get their spouse to game with them.
I know, many of you in this situation laugh at the notion, but it can happen. Gaming with your girlfriend or boyfriend can actually enhance your relationship. Think of the teamwork involved, the dedication, and hey… isn’t it like a vacation without the cost?
The only question that remains, is how exactly to do it. How do you get your wife, husband, or partner to play video games? Try following the steps I have outlined in my guide, How to get your wife or significant other to play MMOs.
Happy gaming!
Absolutely marvelous article with great advice.
I avoided this problem by making sure I married someone who already loved gaming. 🙂
Fortunately, my other is a gamer as well. When I’m playing Left 4 Dead, so is she. Heh.
