As many of you know I have been in search of a new raiding guild with earlier raid times. I love how EQ2 has the ability to open the guild window in game when you are unguilded and search for new guilds. This window features guilds and allows them to put up a short description of their guild and what they are looking for in members.
While this idea is great, I think it would be even more grand if it worked in reverse. How nice would it be if as a player I could post a profile in that window saying that I am looking for a guild and list what type of player I am and what kind of guild I am looking for. Guild leaders and recruiters could then use this to look for players as we players use the window to look for guilds.
Another option I would love to see implemented would be an add on to the looking for group window. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could list your self as looking for group, but while you are waiting go play on an alt? It could put (on alt) next to your name or something similar. It wouldn’t have to list your alts name, but could have an option to click to invite this player to group. This would then send a tell to the alt you are on and let you know that someone is requesting your main in a group. You could then reply saying you will be right there on your main, or the character you have listed as LFG.
This idea would be an extremely awesome addition to the game. I don’t know how many hours I have lost just standing LFG. I know many players go through this as well. It will often take an hour or maybe two to find a group and it feels like time wasted, but if you could go and play and alt while you play that would make the wait so much more bearable.
You can post your guild wants and desires and put anything you like about yourself in the looking for guild section of EQ2Flames. It works extremely well.
Sure, it might be better to have it in game, like EQ1 does (yup, yet another thing EQ1 innovated on years before anyone else knew it was a problem). But there is a good mechanism on the #1 community site.
So what does it take to add a module to the game? Find a programmer and get it done?
Of course you can post on the forums, but actually having it in game is far superior. Just as having the recruiting guilds in the window.
I agree, having a better way to communicate in game to find good players would be awesome.
And to be honest I hate EQ2 flames, I think its horribly moderated.
Well it isn’t quite that easy:)
Ya i really want the LFG thing over all my charaters. I hate having to wait for a group on my main so i’ll hop on an alt, but if someone offered me a group i would switch back to my main to do the group.
It honestly would make the game more fun for me i think
[…] J posted a good post regarding the LFG tools in everquest 2 needing improvement. […]
My favorite part of the LFG tool is taking screenshots for your recruiter photo 🙂 (/cutemode and halloween masks are GREAT for that :))
J is so HOT!!!
