Today XL Games announced the licensing of CryEngine2. They have not given any details on the new game yet, except to say that it will be an MMORPG. XL Games is founded by Jake Song, a former executive at NCSoft, and creator of Lineage. It will be interesting to see what type of MMO will be released. Will it be an asian MMO that can actually compete with traditional MMOs, or will the company use this technology to build a game in the same style as traditional MMOs? This will definitely be something to keep an eye on.
You just had to mention Lineage, huh? 😉
he he ‘Will it be an asian MMO that can actually compete with traditional MMOs’. Why would they want to ? remeber that eastern mmo subscription numbers far out weigh western mmo market. So really they dont need to be designing an mmo for our tastes ….
I suppose I could rephrase it to “Will it be an asian MMO that can compete for the attention of western MMO players.
“Why would they want to ? remeber that eastern mmo subscription numbers far out weigh western mmo market. So really they dont need to be designing an mmo for our tastes ….”
As long as they don’t license it out or attempt to port it to the U.S., I bid them good day and good luck. 😉
Last thing we need is yet another bad Asian MMO port. Its gotten to the point where they’re so bad I can’t even bear to log in to them for more than 5 minutes to do a proper review even for comedic value. I’m seriously looking to even pay someone to do those writeups for me now as I can’t take it anymore. 😛
