After running back and forth between towns to complete quests and my legs being dreadfully tired, I decided to try out the stables. I purchased the ride and fully expected to be ported to the town. I was in for a very nice surprise when I mounted a horse and galloped away! I know I have rode griffins and all, but this was awesome! I love riding through the towns at such a high speed! It was grand!
I actually enjoyed this so much that I rode the horse a few times. Of course now I am very nicely broke, but what’s being poor compared to the feeling of the wind against my face and the land speeding away under my feet?!
The horses look pretty cool too! One thing I really like about the game I am playing at the moment (Vanguard) is that you can buy a horse very early in your toon’s career. At level 10, you can buy a 40% horse for 12.5 silver in one of 6 colors. One thing that really annoyed me in EQ2, was expensive horses. My daughter played EQ2 for a while and always asked me to buy her a horse (I could barely afford one myself). Lucky me a freeportian that I ganked dropped 20 plat… horse for me and the daughter.
I’m sure the higher level horses are pretty expensive, but I haven’t seen them or they aren’t ingame yet.
They [Sigil] are doing a pretty good job with the gold farming issues from my point of view. I don’t get spammed daily by gold sellers. I’m on an FFA server too. Any farmers there are in danger of getting pummelled repeatably. Well.. everyone is in danger of getting pummelled repeatably.
Yeah the inexpensive horses are nice. That was an automated one like the griffins in eq2. I think one plus about cheap horses would be no one running out to buy ingame gold so that they can be the first to have that super expensive horse. Keeps the gold selling down.
Yeah I can imagine!
On the topic of horses, permanent ones are available at level 35 I believe, at the cost of around 3-4g too… I think. In terms of what to compare 3 or 4 gold to, think maybe 30 or 40 gold in WoW.
ah 1… ah 2… ah 3.
Three.
1000 silver per gold. hence the small amount of gold for a mount. My Kinsman (and women) claim it doesn’t take very much saving at all to have that much at 35, so I’m optimistic about that.
How many silver does it take to make a gold? Or how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop?
I try to hoarde my money and never spend it, so hopefully it won’t be a problem.I still have 100 plat I saved up for a unicorn mount in eq2! LOL
Ah, the Unicorn. I probably would have just taken the horn and watched Tom Cruise squirm a la “Legend”. 😛
You can see the look excitement on your face on the back of that horse galloping joyfully into the sunset, lol.
The pics look great I have to give this one a try.
Oh a Unicorn mount would be cool:)
Shame they are only for Freeport but I LOVE the look of the Nightmare type steed – black horse with flaming eyes and hooves.
