As noted by Stargrace in her blog MMO Adventures EQ2 announced that they are merging the pvp servers and will be allowing free character transfers. At some point they will be allowing this for the PVE servers as well. This got me pretty excited, and yes I know I said I was done and burned out, but who am I kidding? Yeah right…. this relationship is just meant to last! Why fate itself could not tear Norrath and I apart! Actually this news of the free transfer perked me up and put me in a jolly good mood! How exciting! As you know the reason I am so bummed out is because my husband wanted to transfer servers not only once but twice! So I am currently on my third server! I loved my first server, and I loved my second server and adored my guild there, but my husband being the flighty thing that he is wanted to move again, and being a good wife I moved too.
Of course a couple months in he left me behind and quit the game. This not only left me alone it drastically reduced the amount my fae was able to level. No all alone and afraid I was stuck at level 48 and even my 70 Conjuror could not find a group to finish any old quests that I so desperately want to finish. Yes my characters there are in a guild and they are pretty nice people but everyone seems to be clicky and never has time to group with guildies outside of their click, or do anything that isn’t beneficial to them, so even in a guild I am unable to find a group. I have not been happy on this server since we arrived, but did not want to fork over another 50.00 to move.
Now here is my chance to reclaim my love and move once again but this time to a happier place! Here is my dilemma. Do I move back home to my original server? They say there is no place like home! Do I browse the forums of each server and try to find a new one with a group of good people. This is hard to do since you really don’t know how anyone is until you play with them.
As for my play style I do like to raid (who doesn’t love phat loot?), but I love to quest! Questing and completing quests is my favorite part of the game. Raiding I do not want to do every night of the week. I think a couple times a week is plenty. I am super friendly, talkative, and always willing to help so I need to find a guild that matches my personality too!
So here I am asking you my friends in this crazy online gaming world, what would you do? What should I do?
Hi JW,I have been reading for a while but this is my first post to your blog.I wish I could answer this question myself.I read Stargrace’s original post. Part of me is very excited and part of me is quite anxious.I recently met some fellow EQII gamers in my local computer games store. They (and apparently a large portion of Australian EQII players) are on Najeema. They spoke about the fact that there are usually plenty of folks playing and the economy is quite good. For the next few days I imagined what it would be like to hook up with them online. My current server is Guk – very nice but usually quite a small population at the “unusual” hours that I play because I am Australian. No problems with the economy but I find it impossible to get into groups (even though I am a Healer with LFG tag usually on:)But now it is possibly an option I feel a bit guilty. I am part of quite a small guild that I have been in for a long time (12 months) and was recently promoted to a guild officer position. I know I would sadly miss my guildies and some of the other folks I have met along the way. I know my loss would be felt too simply because we are a smallish group. What if I find that I am not welcomed into established groups / guilds if I move? Ah the dilemma. At least we will have a little while to ponder before it happens:)
Hey Kilanna,
I too am on Guk and anxiously awaiting the server moves. I moved from Kithicor to Guk to join a new raid guild and since the two guilds I have been in since didnt’ work out for me and burned me out of raiding I’m awaiting my move back to Kithicor.
If you are australian I would definitely do some research to make sure that you find a server with people who are on in your time zone to make it easier for you.
Seeing as I’m American and live in a central time zone Guk is usually no problem for me. I have tried the high end content and raided enough to get around and see all the T7 zones including all of EOF raiding. I have seen what the people who raid are like and quite frankly it turned me way off.
So I’m moving back home to settle down and work on my many alts. Maybe in the future when my kids are grown and I don’t have quite so much to do here at home I will again have time to work on making my own raid guild that I can run as I see fit. Until then I’m going to hang around and craft and what not. If you care to find me let me know and I’ll give you my toon name on Guk. I’m more than willing to help a good healer =) and sometimes I am on in the middle of the night American time due a bad case of insomnia.
JW just out of curiosity since I forgot to ask in my above post what server in EQ2 are you on?
Hey Kilanna:)Thanks for reading. If I were you I would post on the server forums where you are looking to move. Try to get a feel for the place, and ask around to see how many people are in your time zone:) It is a tough decision! I think I will probably end up going back to my original server, although lately I haven’t seen any of my friends there logging in! Anon- I am on the Nektulous server:) My home server is Kithicor too.
Kewl kewl. My home server is Kithicor…where I have a majority of my toons parked.
My main so far on Kithicor is a fury…I think I left her at lvl 53. Both my husband and I play there and have our own guild that sadly for the time being made of up of just the two of us.
If you’d care to look me up to play let me know…I’m willing to post the name of my two main’s that I play predominantly.
My suggestion is to stay where you are and find some nice people to play with. They have to be out there somewhere.
Well if I moved I really think it would be back to Kithicor which is where my true home is anyway and all the nice people I started out with:) You can email me the names if you like.
